Abraham Kirwa Returns Home After Two-Year Medical Leave

Mosop Member of Parliament Abraham Kirwa, who was receiving medical care in the United States, came back to his homeland on Friday, November 21, following almost two years away from public view.
Kirwa, aged 54, experienced a severe stroke that suddenly took him out of the political arena.
He arrived at JKIA at 3 p.m. to a grand welcome from hundreds of enthusiastic supporters who were delighted to have him back.
The member of parliament has been undergoing extended care in Dallas.
A group of MPs who were at the airport to greet him comprised Bernard Kitur (Nandi Hills), Maryanne Kittany (Aldai), and Paul Biego (Chesumei).
"Our duty is merely to thank God. We are very happy," said his older brother, a sentiment also shared by his wife.
Speaking to the media shortly after his arrival, Kirwa conveyed deep appreciation to Kenyans for their prayers and encouragement during his recovery.
"I wasn't anticipating so many individuals showing up to greet me," he stated.
You were by my side, and now we've returned. I realize that in some way, I could have perished, but suddenly, in some manner, the Lord made it possible for me to be here.
Kittany mentioned that the family had been continuously praying for his recovery and kept endorsing local development projects while he was away.
"Mosop has not been forgotten due to your absence. We have been standing by you," she stated.
Kitur shared the same view, pointing out that Mosop currently has more active projects than any other constituency in Nandi, which, he claimed, shows that the region has not been neglected despite the MP's extended absence.
Biego mentioned that no industry had come to a standstill and that the development frameworks are still in place.
"Don't assume anything is wrong. Take it easy," he said, mentioning continuous efforts like power supply connections.
He requested his supporters to allow the Member of Parliament time to completely heal.
In May 2025, Kirwa openly discussed his rehabilitation process to promote education on preventing strokes.
During a previous interview with Fox News, he remembered that the stroke occurred during a radio update when his vision abruptly became blurred, one side of his body felt numb, and he had difficulty speaking before falling down.
"When I consumed water, I realized I could no longer see; I fell down and was immediately taken to the hospital," he stated.
He remained in a Kenyan hospital for 18 days before being moved to Dubai, where medical professionals found that he had experienced another stroke.
As his health declined, his family organized an air ambulance transfer to North Texas, where specialists enrolled him in a rigorous rehabilitation program supervised by physical therapy professionals.
Kirwa's comeback occurs as a legal dispute regarding his parliamentary seat intensifies.
A voter named Timothy Tororey has submitted a petition to the High Court requesting that the Mosop seat be declared empty.
Tororey claims that the MP has been "living overseas and unavailable for a consecutive period longer than two years," resulting in the constituency lacking "a strong representative in the National Assembly."
He asserts that Kirwa's extended absence has "muted" the residents of Mosop in a House constitutionally responsible for their representation, resulting in "irreversible democratic harm" by barring the constituency from national legislative, financial, and supervisory procedures.
Tororey claims that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has not declared the seat empty, even though there are constitutional rules outlined in Article 103.
He claims that the speaker's lack of action has left the people of Mosop as political orphans, without representation, not heard, and not seen in the national discussion.
