Britain's temperatures have fallen to a freezing -11C with various areas experiencing...Met Officeice alerts are activated.
Fresh alerts have emerged following snowfall that closed schools and caused transportation disruptions in certain areas of the nation, as the UK faces ongoing severe cold conditions.
Scotland is likely to face the most severe cold weather, with certain areas experiencing temperatures as low as –10C to –11C.
As per the Met Office, the freezing temperature was measured at Loch Glascarnoch in the Scottish Highlands, with the mercury falling below -7C in most parts of Scotland.
Temperatures saw a slight increase in England and Wales, with minimums reaching -6C at Trawsgoed in Ceredigion, Wales, and -4C at Rostherne, Cheshire.
Several yellow ice alerts are still in effect throughout Scotland,Northern Ireland, the Southwest and the East of England, sparking concerns about dangerous roads, extensive travel interruptions, and an increased likelihood of slips and falls.
The Northeast is also on high alert, with a new warning in effect from midnight to midday on Friday, while East Anglia experiences icy weather until 11 a.m.
In the meantime, almost 200 schools throughout Britain were shut down yesterday.

Cold weather health warnings from the UK Health Security Agency are still active until Saturday morning.
Forecaster Simon Partridge mentioned that the cold was mainly due to 'a small area of high pressure passing over the UK during the night', noting 'the key difference compared to earlier nights is that the winds are much weaker'.
Mr. Partridge mentioned that a significant portion of the country will experience frost during the morning, but by the afternoon, extensive sunshine is anticipated.
He stated, "Friday marks the conclusion of the extremely cold temperatures, with conditions returning to normal by the time we reach the weekend."
It followed when schools were compelled to shut down, roads were blocked, and residences lost electricity due to the snow.
Approximately 100 schools shut down in northern Scotland on Thursday, while in Wales, 36 schools closed in Pembrokeshire, 14 in Carmarthenshire, and seven in Ceredigion.
In North Yorkshire, 33 schools were shut down, whereas eight were categorized as completely closed in East Yorkshire.
In the meantime, British citizens experienced interruptions as roads were blocked and residences lost electricity due to snow.

Drivers in the Northeast and Yorkshire experienced the greatest impact, withNorth Yorkshire Policecalling on drivers to stay away from the A171 near Whitby following several cars getting stuck in the snow.
Authorities also shut down the A169 route between Whitby and Pickering due to blizzard-like conditions.
National Rail advised train travelers to review their routes prior to departure in the snowy and freezing conditions.
A series of small incidents occurred in the north due to drifting conditions, with snow plows and salt spreaders sent out to maintain road access as temperatures dropped below freezing.
The UK's Met Office has issued a series of yellow ice alerts this morning, covering regions such as northern, eastern, south-eastern, and south-western England, as well as parts of northern and south-eastern Scotland and northern and western Wales.
However, the Arctic conditions are anticipated to last only a short time, as temperatures in most parts of the country are set to become more temperate over the weekend.
A Met Office spokesperson said 'As the weekend approaches, we anticipate a change to more temperate, unstable, Atlantic-influenced weather conditions.
This will result in clouds, rain, and occasional stronger winds, yet also lead to a decrease in the winter-related dangers that have been observed in recent days.

We are monitoring Wales and the Midlands, where wet soil conditions could raise the chances of minor effects.
The weather will stay relatively cool, but temperatures will slowly return to what is usual for this time of the year.
As we move into the upcoming week, a slow stabilization is anticipated; winds from the north to northeast will limit rain and showers mainly to the eastern regions.
Although cooler air moving into the north could lead to some wintry conditions in the far north of the country by the end of Monday.
