Clashes Persist in Three North Kordofan Locations Day Two

November 18, 2025 (EL OBEID) – Fighting between the Sudanese military and its allies and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) persisted on Tuesday in three areas of North Kordofan state for the second day in a row.
The military initiated a wide-ranging operation in North Kordofan at the beginning of the week, successfully reclaiming the Kazgail and Um Dam Hag areas. On Monday, it moved into Bara and Um Sayyala but then pulled back due to intense fighting.
Military officials informed "Sudan Tribune" that "the Sudanese army, along with the joint force, launched an attack on RSF positions in the western area of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, early this morning."
Reports suggested that the military and its allies caused significant damage to the RSF, compelling them to withdraw as far as Al-Khawi town in the West Kordofan region.
Platforms aligned with the joint force released video footage depicting the destruction of multiple military vehicles, the death of numerous RSF members, and the capture of other groups.
Aerial attacks by military aircraft focused on regions under the control of the RSF, such as Al-Mazroub and Bara town.
The RSF, in a press release, mentioned that it participated in conflicts in the regions of Jabal Abu Sunun, Jabal Issa, Al-Ayyara, and west of El Obeid. The statement asserted that the RSF caused severe losses to the army and its allies, resulting in hundreds of casualties, along with capturing significant amounts of gear, equipment, and several combat vehicles, which are currently being counted.
On Tuesday, the military reported that they had made a major breakthrough along all Kordofan fronts, after conflicts engaged by their different units and partner forces.
A statement issued by the army spokesperson's office indicated that the military and its partners successfully carried out their duties with great effectiveness, causing significant casualties and damage to the militia's personnel and equipment.
"Key areas were protected, and the reallocation was executed as per the predefined strategy." The statement also added that activities are continuing through precise evaluations and that the combatants' spirit is at its peak.
Kikel’s injury
In a separate update, the Sudan Shield Forces, who are connected to the military, stated that their leader, Abu Agla Kikel, received a "minor" injury while directing combat operations in the Um Sayyala region of North Kordofan.
They verified that Kikel received initial medical assistance on-site before proceeding to oversee the operation until it was completed. A statement from the group mentioned that the confrontations led to casualties, injured individuals, and missing members from their ranks.
Um Sayyala, part of North Kordofan state, is seen as a key area due to its connection with the White Nile and Khartoum. The military had earlier tried to take control of it but failed, owing to strong opposition from the RSF in defending it.
The Sudan Shield Forces stated that the military operation conducted yesterday in the Um Sayyala region met its goals and formed the initial phase along the North Kordofan front. The operation led to significant casualties among the "militias" in terms of both personnel and equipment, even though they kept trying to launch attacks in three waves on the ground, backed by drones and heavy artillery.
