The Nigerian military, via its 82 Division command, has called on residents of the South East region to ignore the warning from militants who have announced plans to enforce a new stay-at-home directive in the area beginning on Thursday, 20 November 2025.
A statement from Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni, Deputy Director of Public Relations, titled "Public Notice: South East is Open and Secure for Business on 20 November 2025 and Beyond," conveyed this information.
"We assure that Freedom of Movement is secured, allowing residents to carry out their legal activities without concern or obstruction. There will be harmonious living, and economic endeavors will flourish in the area," it stated.
We call on the public to ignore messages of fear and pressure promoted by organizations whose sole purpose is to incite unrest and obstruct development in the area for their own benefit.
Residents are therefore advised to carry out their legal responsibilities and daily activities without any apprehension.

The statement's full text states, "The 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army (NA) has become aware of a recent fraudulent 'stay-at-home' order being shared online by certain criminal groups, which is threatening a lockdown today, Thursday, 20 November 2025."
The warning message aims to instill fear within the general population, interfere with means of earning a living, and shake the stability of the Southeast Region.
It also seeks to weaken the government's authority and the accomplishments of our security forces in the area, who have managed to eliminate the illegal stay-at-home orders imposed by banned groups.
We want to clearly inform the residents of the Southeast that these threats are false and will not be effective, as no unlawful command will disturb the peace and freedom of law-abiding individuals.
The 82nd Division, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and other related security organizations, has put in place a strong security strategy to guarantee the full safety of every citizen. Troops are stationed to protect people, assets, and vital infrastructure, and to stop any incidents of destruction or aggression.
We assure that the right to move freely is safeguarded, allowing residents to carry out their legal endeavors without concern or obstruction. There will be harmony among people, and economic pursuits will flourish in the area.
