The Jericho Businessmen Club in Ibadan, Oyo State, started the Future-Ready Youth Digital Bootcamp on Wednesday, a rigorous and impactful educational program designed to provide young individuals in the state with essential digital skills and to get them ready for jobs in the technology-focused global economy.
The campaign, which started on Wednesday, November 12, at the Ibadan Business Hub in Ibadan, the state's capital, signifies the initial stage of the JBC's two-part digital skills development initiative.
A three-day initial workshop, taking place until November 14, centers on Digital Skills and Career Opportunities in the tech field, whereas the second stage, a 10-week accredited program in Data Analytics and Cybersecurity, will start right after for the top 15 individuals chosen from the first group of 52 participants.
The prolonged training is being backed by GOMYCODE, a top technology education firm.
At the opening ceremony, JBC's president, Adegboyega Adegoke, stated that the bootcamp demonstrates the club's dedication to contributing to society by equipping young people with skills relevant to the future.
He stated, "The selection process was challenging; numerous individuals applied, yet only a small number were chosen. You are fortunate to be here. Many young people desire to join this program. The world is entering an era led by Artificial Intelligence and data."

Adegoke highlighted that the JBC views technology as a crucial means of empowering youth to achieve financial independence and support the growth of Ibadan and the state.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Innovation Sub-Committee at the JBC 2025 Socio-Economic Summit, Kunle Opawale, stated, “This initiative aligns with the overall vision of our summit, which is titled ‘Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech Talent and Transformation.’”
We have gathered leading experts and decision-makers to explore how this state can develop a workforce prepared for the evolving job market. The current training aims to identify tech-savvy young people, particularly those from Ibadan, who can be provided with valuable skills to enhance their employability or support them in starting their own businesses.
Opawale stated that from 165 applicants, 52 individuals were chosen through a fair selection procedure, each achieving a score higher than 65%.
The top 15 participants from the three-day event will move on to the next stage, a 10-week rigorous bootcamp offering credentials in Data Analytics and Cybersecurity, equipping them to compete internationally.
He mentioned that the JBC's main objective is not solely to provide training but also to help participants secure employment and to ensure they contribute to the community over time.
"Success for us means witnessing their successful employment, flourishing in technology careers, and coming back after a few years to guide others. That's the kind of impactful outcome we hope this program will create," he stated.
The Program Coordinator, Emmanuel Adesanya, highlighted that the bootcamp was thoughtfully structured to match the summit's main objective of establishing the state as a center for technological innovation and digital progress.
"The focus of this year's summit is 'Future-Ready Oyo State: Tech Talent and Transformation.' We are equipping our young people with the essential digital and technical abilities needed for this goal. The initial stage familiarizes attendees with digital literacy, cybersecurity, and data analysis, whereas the second stage, backed by GOMYCODE, offers a hands-on, comprehensive experience endorsed by industry experts such as Microsoft," Adesanya stated.
The JBC, a leading socio-economic organization composed of professionals and businesspeople from Ibadan, has, over time, participated in various development initiatives throughout the state.
