Kakande's Big Return Dream

Key information:
For Villa, the Thursday night match under the lights is the time when their most elegant striker starts his path back to peak performance.
If there has ever been a night when the hens would return to their roost, it is this one where Zeljko Kovacevic's well-structured and determined SC Villa finally release a fully fit and fully concentrated Patrick Kakande.
The league leaders, ranked third in the standings with 10 points from five games, welcome Badru Kaddu's Nec - currently 12th with six points - for a challenging Kadiba encounter that may determine Villa's ambitions for the title.
For Villa, the Thursday night match under floodlights marks the point where their most elegant forward starts his return to peak performance.
Disputes over contracts and a persistent muscle injury had combined to keep Kakande from playing in Villa's first four games.
However, his return—during the 1–0 victory against Kitara two weeks ago, when teammate Frank Ssebufu headed in the winning goal—showed glimpses of the dynamic playmaker who was dominant last season.
Big plans
Now free of pain and mentally sharpened, Kakande aims to make up for lost time and secure a spot on Paul Put's Uganda Cranes squad heading to the Afcon in Morocco.
The 2023/24 Most Valuable Player, player's choice, young talent, and Best XI member is aware of the standard he established—and plans to meet it.
He is also keen to play a vital role in Zeljko Kovacevic's developing tactical plan, which he feels has elements similar to that of former Serbian coach Dusan Stojanovic - although with distinct differences.
"Dusan (Stojanovic) and (Zeljko) Kovacevic have distinct styles – during Dusan's era, you needed to establish possession and then launch a counterattack. Kovacevic's approach primarily focuses on flawless counterattacks," Kakande mentioned.
I'm just returning to my rhythm, but the coach is aware of what I can contribute. I aim to score ten goals and make it into the Afcon squad. The team is prepared for whatever tactics Nec employs.
A self-assured Kakande is convinced that Nec will be defeated by the Villa's sword tonight as the Jogoos keep improving their tactics under Kovacevic.
Recent gatherings back his positive outlook: Villa and Nec have drawn their last four league encounters - the Jogoos taking 3–0 and 2–0 before Nec responded with 2–1 and 1–0 wins.
Kaddu's Nec arrived battered after a 1-1 draw against Bul - his debut game in charge - turning their journey to Kadiba into another challenging test.
Eagles new era
A fresh chapter begins at Express with Jimmy Kintu Mweru assuming leadership after Kaddu moved to Nec. Kintu, who stepped down from Calvary following a 4–2 loss against Entebbe UPPC in Yumbe, will be supported by former Mbale Heroes coach Richard Malinga.
The pair has a side that sits seventh with eight points from six matches and is in need of stability. Lugazi, inspired by a 5–2 victory against Buhimba United Saints, will offer a tough test.
In Hoima, Abbey Kikomeko’s Bul, placed fourth with 10 points from six games, face Wasswa Bbosa’s Kitara, who are tenth with seven points from five matches.
