A senior lecturer from Nigeria at Sheffield Business School and the creator of TEXEM UK, Dr. Alim Abubakre, has become a member of the Business Council for Africa (BCA) board, which is one of the UK's longest-standing business organizations focused on Africa.

Established in 1956, the council promotes policy discussion, funding, and skill enhancement throughout the region.

A message on the council's website verified his appointment, which follows the council's recent goodbye to three directors—David Lamb, Steve Cameron, and Hada Kamara—whose terms concluded after extended and distinguished service.

Declaring his new position in a statement released on Thursday, Abubakre mentioned that the role will help strengthen UK-Africa cooperation in areas such as inclusive development, policy effectiveness, and environmentally responsible business methods.

This position is more than a personal achievement; it serves as a means to promote Sheffield Business School's goal of enhancing lives and organizations via practical knowledge, ethical leadership, and international collaborations.

"I'm eager to help enhance UK-Africa partnerships that will drive equitable development, influence policy, and promote sustainable business methods," he stated.

He mentioned that his work for BCA and TEXEM UK is done without payment, calling the choice a principle-based method of leading and serving the public.

As per Abubakre, in the last ten years, TEXEM UK has provided training to over 4,000 executives in areas such as leadership, organizational development, and decision-making within challenging settings. Many of these individuals now hold high-level positions in both the public and private sectors across Nigeria, Kenya, the UAE, Ghana, and the UK.

He emphasized again his dedication to bringing together leaders, enhancing governance practices, and encouraging forward-thinking approaches to enable organizations to achieve outcomes with honesty during challenging periods.

The Business Council for Africa characterized Abubakre as "an educator, strategist, and promoter of leadership growth, having expertise in global commerce and executive training."

It mentioned that he "possesses a PhD in Strategy from the University of Southampton and an MBA from the University of Leicester, along with additional studies at Cambridge University and MIT."

The council stated, "He has delivered speeches and led sessions at the UK House of Commons and the Judicial Office, as well as Cambridge University, Oxford, and the London School of Economics," and highlighted that he was "chosen among the Virgin Media Top 100 promising UK Entrepreneurs."

Commenting on his position at TEXEM UK, the council stated, "As Founder and Non-Executive Chair, he has worked alongside international experts to create executive training programs that enhance the capabilities of business and government leaders."

At the Sheffield Business School, it stated, "He oversees two programs, instructs in Global Supply Chain Management and Strategy, mentors PhD students, and assists new academics."

The council also mentioned that he "has been involved in strategic planning and professional development efforts as Director of Strategy at TIEC" and emphasized that he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy who "has been recognized with awards for outstanding teaching at Coventry, Nottingham Business School, and Sheffield Business School."

Regarding his entire body of work, the council stated, "He is enthusiastic about continuous learning and teamwork" and is dedicated to "guiding others, cultivating leadership skills, and encouraging creativity."

It mentioned that his work "enables people and companies to handle complicated issues and achieve lasting success by using strategic perspectives and collective understanding."
