A prominent figure in Nigerian nightlife, Pascal "Cubana Chief Priest" Okechukwu, has responded to the Federal High Court's ruling that sentenced Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu to life in prison for terrorism.
PREMIUM TIMES reportedThe trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, found Mr. Kanu guilty on all seven charges and mentioned that he chose not to sentence him to death due to "scriptural encouragement to show mercy."
The judge instructed that the sentences be served at the same time and decided that Mr. Kanu should remain in protective custody, prohibiting him from accessing electronic devices.
Responding to the decision in a statement published onInstagramOn Friday, Cubana Chief Priest condemned President Bola Tinubu along with ministers and governors from the South-east for their involvement in the result of Mr Kanu's trial.
He also detailed the requirements that Mr. Tinubu needs to fulfill if he aims to gain the region's backing before the 2027 national election.
The artist stated, "President Bola Tinubu, while MNK is in prison, you won't reach 10,000 votes in the South-East by 2027. I'm not lying to you, Dad; as a supporter of your administration, I have no motive to hide the truth. MNK is the top figure in the South-East."
His arrest has led to significant delays, and I'm astonished that all your ineffective ministers from the South-East aren't able to inform you of the truth since they're all cowards. None of them possess the ability or take any action to make the people admire and respect you.
No leader can rescue you
Furthermore, Cubana Chief Priest stated that none of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors would be capable of rescuing Mr. Tinubu in 2027 if the government did not handle Mr. Kanu's issue properly.
He also mentioned that while the Governor of Imo State did well, he would eventually lose everything if he didn't manage to get Mr. Kanu out of jail.
He stated: "Regarding governors, they will all let you down because what can they really tell us? Absolutely nothing. Only the release of MNK can rescue you. Seyi Tinubu, everyone sitting with you at the Delborough Hotel the other day is full of lies, including me."
They are unable to do anything for you. They can't even return to their hometowns due to MNK's arrest, so how can they assist you? Their only interest is in acquiring your land for development and resale. You know me; I don't require anything from you. Whether it's a villa or a hotel, in a few more days, your check-out time will arrive.
Only MNK can ensure you genuine support from the South-East. Keep an eye on Governor Alex Otti; he is also capable of truly persuading people. I was taken aback when you didn't attend his project inauguration in Abia, which is where MNK comes from.
Asiwaju dispatched an ineffective minister, a failure and a traitor to the South-East, to speak on his behalf, a person who has contributed nothing to us. Only Kanu
Cubana Chief Priest stated that he supported Mr Uzodimma's strategies, yet Mr Kanu's punishment saddened him.
He thanked Mr. Tinubu for allowing him to visit the Villa and for offering him his first presidential handshake, but emphasized that this would not prevent him from pushing for Mr. Kanu's release.
Cubana Chief Priest, who claimed he would never forget, let alone witness, Mr Tinubu's failure, yet advised him to challenge Mr Kanu's ruling.
Your legacies will be forgotten if you don't act properly. I have faith in your strategies, but with MNK's sentence, I feel vulnerable. His arrest has disrupted all your accomplishments. Please, Governor General, do it, Papa; support our Asiwaju properly. Without MNK, everything will collapse.
"Asiwaju granted me entry to the Villa, offered me my first presidential handshake, and I will never forget that, let alone witnessing his downfall. Challenge this verdict and correct it, or be ready to leave the Villa by 2027. The South-East is under MNK's control. These are divine words; tamper with them at your own peril," the businessman concluded.
The head priest of Cubana's criticism regarding Mr. Tinubu's attempt to be re-elected occurred seven months following his open support for the President's 2027 goal.
This newspaper reportedthat a businessman met with Mr Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in May, along with singer Davido and artiste manager Ubi Franklin.
At that moment, Cubana Chief Priest firmly stated that Mr. Tinubu would also secure victory in the upcoming presidential election.
"We are confident of achieving success once more in 2027," the businessman stated. At the time of publication, the purpose of the visit is still unclear," he added.
