ACF's Brain Trust: Uba Sani of the North
Governor Uba Sani has urged the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to remain the intellectual driving force of the North, by steering governance, influencing policy, promoting discussion, and maintaining cohesion.
The Governor, who provided this advice during his speech as the main host at the 25th anniversary event of ACF, also highlighted that the Forum continues to be an essential platform for the region's stability and progress.
He pledged to "collaborate with the ACF, the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our neighboring states, development allies, civil society, and the private sector to create a North that is safe, welcoming, economically strong, and competitive on the global stage."
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, also looked back on the brave beginnings of ACF, which started on March 7, 2000, in Kaduna.
As we mark this significant achievement, let us reaffirm our dedication to the core principles of the Forum, which include unity, justice, discussion, and the drive for shared advancement.
"May the next twenty-five years result in even more significant accomplishments, greater unity, and a more stable, peaceful Northern Nigeria," he prayed.
The Governor thanked President Tinubu, "who is guiding with bravery and vision the effort to enhance Nigeria's security, advance national reforms, and achieve the economic transformation of our country."
Talking about Kaduna State, he mentioned that 'our government has adopted a leadership style based on inclusion, openness, healing, and public involvement. These values are restoring confidence and enhancing interactions among different communities.'
Governor Uba Sani mentioned that his government is addressing the security issues in the state through a mix of inclusive leadership, involvement of the community, and building infrastructure, known as the Kaduna Peace Model.
The Kaduna Peace Model acknowledges that peace cannot be imposed; it is created. It is formed through the fair allocation of initiatives, community-driven budgeting, investment in human development, and the intentional transformation of public areas to encourage harmony.
"it is based on the idea that design, planning, and administration are strong tools for achieving social unity," he further stated.
The leader revealed that peace has been re-established in sensitive areas 'through intelligence-led collaboration, strong backing for law enforcement, strengthening of local organizations, and the use of modern technology.'
'Farmers have come back to their fields with new optimism, aided by our initiatives in machinery, advanced supplies, advisory services, and access to markets. Kaduna State remains known as a key food source for the area,' he stated.
The leader also highlighted his administration's accomplishments in the health and education fields, along with infrastructure progress since he took charge.
We have enhanced secondary hospitals, rejuvenated primary healthcare centers, and reinforced maternal and child health initiatives. Our goal is a Kaduna State where no resident is deprived of medical care due to location or financial constraints.
Our dedication to education remains strong. We are increasing student numbers, upgrading infrastructure, training educators, supplying schools with resources, and enhancing technical and higher education institutions.
Education continues to be the foundation of our long-term peace and development plan.
As stated by the Governor, "infrastructure progress is being provided fairly throughout all 23 Local Government Areas, with an emphasis on maintaining a balanced approach between rural and urban regions."
