A student from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) is thought to have passed away following a reported emotional distress.
In which period did Peter miss a university lecture?
Rodgers Otiso stated that, as per Churchill Kipkoech, Peter's close friend and fellow student, Peter was absent from class on Friday, November 21, which was very out of character for him.
"Disturbed by Peter's absence, a circle of close friends went to his house. They discovered the door secured with a stick, which enabled them to push it open. Upon entering, they were confronted with the heartbreaking scene of Peter's dead body, indicating he had taken his own life with a rope," he said.
Prior to his passing, the 22-year-old had posted a concerning message on Facebook that hinted at emotional pain.
Numerous individuals responded to the post, trying to offer him comfort and gain insight into his experiences.
Has the police initiated an inquiry regarding Peter's death?
A companion of Peter's contacted him via WhatsApp, inquiring about what was troubling him and offering assistance.
Peter said he would talk later, as he was feeling unwell, but they never spoke again.
"Churchill mentioned that a day prior to the incident, Peter had posted concerning messages on his Facebook and WhatsApp profiles, indicating remorse over being in a relationship. Churchill replied to the post asking what was wrong, but Peter never responded; the message stayed greyed out until his passing. It is claimed that Peter had recently experienced a heartbreak tied to a love triangle, which friends think might have led to the tragedy," Otiso said.
Law enforcement have initiated inquiries regarding the event, while the university has not released an official statement yet.
