The Western Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, in Ondo State, on Monday paraded 35 suspects for various criminal offences, including kidnapping, human trafficking, rape, and motorcycle theft across the state.
The State Commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed during the parade that 19 of the suspects were arrested for offences related to breach of law and order, three were linked to human trafficking, 11 to kidnapping, and two to rape.
Adeleye said the human trafficking suspects allegedly defrauded a victim of Ghana Cedis amounting to ₵1.4 million under the pretext of facilitating the movement of an individual from Togo to Nigeria to secure a Canadian visa.
He explained that the victim was reportedly held hostage for about two weeks before escaping and reporting the incident to Amotekun operatives, who later recovered the money and passports and reunited the victim with her family in Ghana.
The Amotekun Commander also revealed that 11 suspects were connected to kidnapping incidents in Akure and other local government areas, adding that operatives successfully rescued two victims, including a father and his son, during separate operations.
Speaking on motorcycle theft, Adeleye said six suspects were arrested for attacking riders and dispossessing them of their motorcycles, while others dismantled stolen bikes for sale as spare parts and reassembled the motorcycles.
He further disclosed that operatives swiftly responded to a distress call in Owo, leading to the recovery of a stolen Lexus Jeep after exit routes were blocked.
Among those arrested are suspects linked to kidnapping, including Musa Momodu Abdullahi, David Shamisu Ismail, Benard Isiaka Abdullahi, and Shehu Suleiman Abdullahi. Others include Eyinloju Taiwo and Eyinloju Kejinde, arrested for conspiracy and attempted rape in Akunnu Akoko, as well as Modest (25), Mika (25), and Emmanuel (27), implicated in human trafficking.

The Amotekun boss also disclosed the arrest of a 28-year-old suspect identified as Ayodeji, who allegedly specialised in breaking into homes during church services, saying the agency had increased surveillance during religious gatherings, which led to his arrest and that of other suspects involved in similar crimes.
Other arrests include a suspect identified as Dr. Dada for motorcycle theft and Saliu Musa, who allegedly looted a house in Okitipupa while the owner was away. Three other suspects, Umaru, Abubakar, and another, were arrested for stealing motor parts.
The agency noted a significant reduction in criminal activities, particularly house break-ins, attributing the improvement to the enforcement of the ban on night-time commercial motorcycle operations.
He added that no fewer than 14,000 commercial motorcycle riders have registered with Amotekun following the enforcement of the ban on night-time operations across the state.
Adeleye said the registration, which covers all 18 local government areas, is part of efforts to regulate riders’ activities and curb rising insecurity linked to the sector.
He added that more than 120 motorcycles have so far been impounded for violating the ban on night-time operations, warning that defaulters would continue to face sanctions in line with the law.
He noted that the government had earlier extended the registration deadline by seven days to allow more riders to comply, stressing that sensitisation efforts are ongoing. He said enforcement has already begun to yield results, with a noticeable reduction in criminal activities such as house break-ins and related offences.
