CDWCO Launches First Annual Conference
The Christopolis District Women and Children Organization (CDWCO) has completed its inaugural annual conference, highlighting significant achievements in spiritual growth, organizational expansion, and community involvement.
The three-day gathering, taking place from November 14 to 16, 2025, at the Agape Global Methodist Church, united more than 150 women leaders, district representatives, and local congregation members for worship, strategic discussions, and contemplation.
Presenting the annual address, District Coordinator Sister Sarah B. Jeffy thanked God and recognized the leadership team for the consistent development of the organization since its founding on May 1, 2025. She gave credit to National Women Coordinator Mother Victoria Muriel Nelson for motivating the district's creation and mentioned that the slogan "Women of God, Serving God Together in One Spirit" was unanimously approved at the first meeting.
The Coordinator of the District Women and Children Organization, Sister Jeffy, shared important events that took place throughout the year, such as two periods of fasting and prayer in May and June, which she noted were spiritually inspiring for women in the area.
Describing various events, the DC highlighted the Induction and Recommitment Service, which took place on June 22 at New Georgia GMC and included a speech by Rev. Dr. Jerry P. Kulah with the theme "Come and See," successfully raised L$95,190 and US$390, representing a major achievement for the emerging group.
She mentioned that the district also sent more than 50 women to attend the Grain Coast Annual Conference in Ganta, held from July 4 to 13.
Other notable events celebrated include Women's Workday, observed on September 28 at Refuge GMC, which generated L$79,660 and US$386 despite challenging weather conditions. The event featured unique music performances by the Refuge GMC Choir and a charity fruit-buying initiative.
DC Jaffy mentioned throughout the year, while leading the CDWCO, that the district organized four leadership and general meetings, with topics focusing on growth strategies, choosing uniforms, and planning activities. The coordinator also revealed plans for increased involvement with the Global Methodist Children's Ministry in 2026.
"Multiple local groups provided official reports emphasizing membership numbers, financial data, and aspects requiring enhancement." DC Sis. Sarah B. Jaffy observed:
New Georgia GMC has 60 active members; US$240, L$71,300, 72nd GMC has 62 active members; US$1,400, L$99,840, Smytthe GMC has 19 active members; US$80, L$9,500, and David Gueh GMC has 25 active and 2 inactive members; L$42,045, among others.
Churches suggested district tours, leadership seminars, and empowerment courses covering topics like soap production and tie-dye techniques. Typical issues involved low membership fee compliance, poor attendance at meetings, and minimal involvement in district initiatives.
The area recorded a final financial balance of L$84,200 and US$475 for the period being examined.
At the conference, Sister Jennifer M. Lekpeh, the Chairperson of the Committee on Finance and Complimentary Resolution, delivered a three-day financial summary showing L$170,080 and US$821 in income, along with L$25,000 in checks. Expenses amounted to L$65,795 and US$2, resulting in a balance of L$129,285 and US$819.
A significant conversation involved a L$25,000 cash deposit that was converted into a check and put on hold. Participants also mentioned an extra US$300 receipt that was anticipated to be included in the final total. The report ended with appreciation for a teacher who helped in creating the financial summary.
The gathering began with prayer and worship conducted by New Georgia GMC, followed by a passage from the Old Testament in Nehemiah that highlighted the restoration of spiritual and physical barriers.
Delegates approved multiple proposals, such as the creation of a conference bar, proposed by Mother Catherine Swen from New Life GMC, and the acceptance of an official keepsake for the group, suggested by Mother Emma Wilson of New Georgia GMC.
A group of committee members was selected to oversee particular organizational responsibilities, while the District Coordinator temporarily transferred power to the leading mother in accordance with established customs.
A regulation concerning priestly women who were married to multiple husbands was officially implemented, and delegates approved three official uniforms for different church events, including the staff blue uniform and a primed crop dress for funerals.
Studies from Nehemiah and Jeremiah highlight themes of leadership, unity, and spiritual strength.
The Youth Ministry organized a citywide quiz contest, with E. D. McGill winning the event. Organizers shared rules for children's programs and highlighted greater youth involvement in the future.
During the Conference, attendance numbers were revealed, and details were finalized for the upcoming stages of the district conference, scheduled to take place in New Life (2026) and John Warner GMC (2027).
Nevertheless, the Christopolis District Women and Children Organization Coordinator Sister Jeffy, along with the Executive Committee Members and Organization members, suggested that the District Coordinator be included in all local women's chatrooms and granted authority to make leadership changes when necessary.
In conclusion, DC, Sister Sarah B. Jaffy expressed gratitude to national leaders, district executives, advisors, local coordinators, supporters, and the Christopolis District Men's Ministry for their efforts throughout the year.
Additionally, Sister Jaffy urged members to stay strong in their spiritual path, reminding them: "It is my prayer that through God's grace, we will keep our focus on the One who knows everything about us. May God lead us as we reconstruct the walls of our lives."
The gathering, which united more than 150 members from the Women and Children Organization, numerous attendees from the District Men Organization, District Presiding Elder (P.E) Dr. Julius Z.Y.K Williams, I., District Lay Leader Mth. Jestina W. Sayon, and a representative from the Office of the Conference Superintendent of the Global Methodist Church Liberia, concluded with thanks to the choirs, kitchen staff, planners, and everyone involved who contributed to its success.
