Rwandan golfer Celestin Nsanzuwera is scheduled to participate in his second event at the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing (SDT-EAS) in South Africa, which will be held from November 20 to 23. Nsanzuwera, who previously came in second place in this tournament in June, will once again compete against Uganda's Ronald Rugumayo for the first prize of 500,000 South African Rand (approximately Rwf42 million). Both golfers have also been invited to two significant events on the Sunshine Tour: the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Pezula Championship Course and the Fitch & Leedes PGA Championship, set to take place at St. Francis Links from November 27 to 30. The winner of these events will receive 3 million Rand (approximately Rwf253 million). These events are known to attract some of the top professional golfers from Africa. He described the opportunity as a major milestone in his career, attributing his improved performance to the SDT-EAS. "Participating in two Sunshine Tour events is a big step for me and my career. My goal this season has been to challenge myself against the best, and the SDT-EAS has helped me prepare well," Nsanzuwera stated. "I have gained confidence from my victories and top placements, and I want to carry that momentum into South Africa. I will do my best to represent Rwanda and the East African region with pride." Nsanzuwera's invitation places him among the elite African golfers competing at the highest levels of the sport, highlighting the growing influence of golf in Rwanda and the role of the Sunshine Development Tour–East Africa Swing in developing world-class talent. This marks the best result by an East African golfer in the Big Easy Tour. "This opportunity means a lot," Rugumayo said after receiving the invitation. "The SDT-EAS has kept us competitive all year, and playing in South Africa recently gave me the confidence that I can compete at this level. The goal is to keep improving, stay focused, and seize these opportunities when they come. I'm ready to give it my all," he added. Sunshine Tour officials praised both players as examples of how the SDT-EAS is helping East African golfers reach higher levels of competition. "Celestin and Rugumayo's progression into Sunshine Tour events is exactly what the Sunshine Development Tour was designed for. Development tours help players reach the highest levels, and these two golfers show that East African players can compete on bigger stages," said Sunshine Tour Commissioner Thomas Abt. David Kihara, Tournament Director of SDT-EAS, also highlighted the two golfers as ideal examples of how consistent and structured competition can benefit athletes. "Their game has matured technically, mentally, and strategically. We are confident they will perform well in South Africa, and many more SDT players will follow," he said. Nsanzuwera's participation in the Sunshine Tour represents another significant step in strengthening East Africa's presence in continental golf. He became the latest beneficiary of the Sunshine Tour's integration with the SDT-EAS, which continues to provide players with OWGR ranking points, international exposure, and pathways into some of the continent's most competitive fields.
