Karpowership Grants Full Scholarships to 55 Students

Karpowership Ghana has granted complete tuition scholarships to 55 outstanding yet economically disadvantaged Engineering students from Takoradi Technical University for the 2025/2026 academic term. This initiative, which the company has been implementing since 2022, aims to develop the upcoming generation of engineers and increase opportunities for technical and vocational education in the Western Region.
Individuals from the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering form the program's biggest and most varied group so far. This effort is a part of Karpowership Ghana's dedication to promoting gender diversity in STEM and comes after the company signed an agreement with the World Bank Women in Energy Network Africa (WEN-Africa) to boost the presence of women in the energy industry throughout Africa.
The financial aid program corresponds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 related to Quality Education and SDG 5 concerning Gender Equality, through enhancing access to higher education and encouraging prospects for women in engineering.
Speaking during the program, Sandra Amarquaye, Communications Manager at Karpowership Ghana, stated:
At Karpowership, we are committed to ensuring that no student is deprived of an opportunity due to financial limitations. Assisting talented yet financially disadvantaged students, particularly in key engineering disciplines, contributes to building a stronger workforce in Ghana. With this group, we made a deliberate effort to double the number of female engineers from 7 to 14, aligning with our MOU with the World Bank Women in Energy Network Africa (WEN-Africa) and promoting more gender diversity within the energy sector. In addition to covering tuition fees, we provide career counseling, mentorship, and personal growth programs to help students smoothly enter the professional world. While academic empowerment is crucial, preparing them for successful careers is equally vital.
Ms. Olivia Agyemang, Director of Academic Affairs and Scholarship Coordinator at TTU, praised the company for its ongoing assistance. She mentioned that the scholarship program has been a game-changer for students and reflects a sincere dedication to supporting talented individuals facing financial challenges. She noted that the support goes beyond covering tuition; it transforms lives and enhances the future workforce of Ghana.
Beneficiaries have also described the immediate effects of the program. Jessica, a high-achieving female student and recent participant in an international exchange program in Germany, said:
Karpowership has taken away the worry about fees or quitting. I worked very hard because of this assistance, and now I am the top female Mechanical Engineering student, chosen for an exchange program. I am deeply thankful. Karpowership has brought back my hope.
A new recipient, Fauzia Ibrahim, shared her appreciation. She mentioned she was filled with happiness and that the scholarship eased the pressure on her parents while inspiring her to study harder. She noted that it has provided her with a sense of calm and driven her to aim to be the top student.
The Karpowership-TTU Scholarship Program remains a symbol of the company's commitment as a sustainable ally in Ghana's progress, enabling youth with the necessary skills and prospects to support the nation's socio-economic advancement and fostering the upcoming wave of engineers.
