The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, held a security council meeting on Friday, gathering senior government officials and security leaders to assess approaches designed to enhance community safety and combat organized kidnapping groups.

Speaking to journalists during the council meeting, State Police Commissioner Ojo Adekimi stated that the gathering "gained valuable information from security leaders regarding recent events and on-the-ground intelligence following the Eruku incident, along with the actions taken by security agencies to locate the culprits and assist the victims."
He stated, "The gathering also praised increased security measures, particularly air interdictions that have forced the kidnappers out of their previous hiding places, especially in Ifelodun. It urges ongoing aerial attacks on areas designated as criminal hideouts."
Regarding the participation of federal security agencies, Adekimi stated, "The gathering particularly praised the army, police, and DSS for their recent deployments in the state."
In accordance with the instructions from President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, recently sent four distinct tactical units (Special Weapons and Tactics, Intelligence Response Team, Special Tactical Squad, and Special Intervention Squad) to Kwara to prevent additional dangers.
He additionally stated, “The police and DSS mentioned multiple arrests of food and fuel suppliers connected to the criminals, as well as a man from Makurdi who admitted to tampering with weapons for the kidnappers.”
The commissioner also addressed school safety, stating, “The meeting praised the government's strategic security measures for schools in certain areas of the state.”

Emphasizing preventive actions during the holiday season, he stated, “The meeting gave approval to coordinated patrols by security agencies across various areas of the state, particularly as the Christmas season nears. It suggested increased security at sensitive locations.”
In public communication and social media, Adekimi cautioned, "The meeting highlighted the harmful effects of social media in the nation's struggle against violent non-state groups."
It highlights worries about the way security information is spread, including the demand for ransom and the spreading of details that put citizens at greater risk. For public safety, it urges careful handling of freedom of expression.
The commissioner also called on residents to take individual precautions, saying, “The gathering encouraged citizens to refrain from nighttime farming and social events that could put them at risk.”
It called on citizens to immediately report any suspicious activities to the security authorities, government departments, and customary leaders.
The council ended by observing a period of silence, with Adekimi stating, “The meeting observed a minute of silence for the victims of the Eruku CAC attack and once more expressed condolences to their families and the broader community.”
