- Over 100,000 individuals have left Al Fasher and nearby villages starting from October 26,arriving tired, thirsty, and starving, requiring urgent assistance. Tens of thousands more are still missing.
- Tawila has expanded into a large community, with thousands of additional families continuing to arrive every day. Numerous individuals are seeking tens of thousands of missing relatives who were separated during the turmoil.
- The situation is worsening quickly: water, sanitation, and shelter facilities are struggling to cope with the growing number of arrivals, raising the likelihood of illness.
- Families keep coming to collection centers daily, looking for building supplies, blankets to stay warm during the night, and signing up for food aid.
- Many people are still stuck outside Tawila in regions under the control of militant groups, dealing with blackmail, restricted movement, and no secure way to receive assistance.
- The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has documented more than 10,000 new arrivals in Tawila, offered financial aid to approximately 2,000 households, and enrolled over 2,000 children in emergency education and psychological support programs.

The Head of Operations for NRC in Sudan, Noah Taylor, who has recently returned from Tawila, stated:
As you reach the top of the last hill into Tawila, you glimpse what appears to be a temporary city emerging from the desert, a vast collection of shelters extending toward the mountains. When I visited last in May, Tawila's camps housedmore than 200,000individuals. Today, it has grown into a massive community housing thousands more displaced persons.
Thousands of individuals from Al Fasher and nearby villages remain unlocated or unaccounted for following the recent violence. Families are gradually arriving each day, weary and in need of food; they are also looking for family members they lost during the turmoil. I spoke to a man who had traveled for 18 days from Al Fasher using one crutch after sustaining an injury. Such narratives are widespread.
After 18 months of blockade, intense combat, targeted assaults on residents, and the breakdown of essential services in Al Fasher, people have reached this critical situation.
Traveling through the camp in Tawila, you still encounter families attempting to create a semblance of a home using just blankets and sticks. Thousands of families reside in these temporary shelters on the edges of the area. Many came with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The dangers posed by diseases are already on the rise. The existing water, sanitation, and shelter facilities are unable to handle the growing population. Without a significant influx of assistance, situations are expected to worsen rapidly.
The NRC is assisting local authorities, expanding educational and psychosocial support for children, managing the camp, and enrolling new families for cash aid. Over 2,000 children are currently participating in NRC's emergency learning and Better Learning Programme. However, without secure access and a major increase in funding, this camp will not be able to handle what lies ahead.
