From thrilling football matches to other engaging fixtures, Weekend Sport highlights the most notable activities that will keep fans entertained throughout the weekend. The sports weekend begins on Friday, November 21 at 3pm, when Al Hilal SC hosts MC Alger in what will be the first CAF Champions League match ever held in Kigali. The game will be played at Amahoro Stadium, which is currently the home ground of Al Hilal. Along with Al Merreikh, they have also been given permission to participate in the Rwanda Premier League. MC Alger previously played in Kigali when they faced Rayon Sports in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in 2018. The Rwanda Premier League resumes. Football fans can look forward to non-stop action throughout the weekend, starting with Gasogi United FC facing Kiyovu Sports in the opening match of Matchday 8 of the league at Amahoro Stadium at 6:30 pm. This match will follow Al Hilal SC's CAF Champions League encounter with MC Alger at the same venue. The league fixtures will continue on Saturday and Sunday. A day after APR FC plays against Musanze FC on Saturday, Rayon Sports' team is likely to be different from what fans have seen recently when they face AS Kigali at Kigali Pelé Stadium. The return of attacking players Fall Ngagne and Asman Ndikumana from injuries could provide a significant boost to the team. Last week, Petit Stade generated excitement among volleyball fans as Gisagara VC and APR VC played in a sold-out gymnasium. Gisagara will return to action this Friday at 8 pm against Rwanda Energy Group (REG), aiming to recover from their unexpected loss to APR. Earlier in the day, domestic rivals Police WVC and APR WVC, both still unbeaten, will face each other in the women's volleyball league at 6 pm. Volleyball league action will move to Ste Famille Gymnasium on Saturday, where the remaining fixtures of the seventh round will take place. One match to watch will feature East African University Rwanda (EAUR) against Police VC in the men's category. ALSO READ: Top US volleyball academy to visit Rwanda. Amavubi U17 aim for redemption in AFCON qualifier. After losing 2-0 in their first CECAFA U17 match against host Ethiopia, Rwanda U17 will return to action seeking redemption as they face Kenya on Friday, November 21. Amavubi U17 are in Group A along with Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and South Sudan. Group B includes defending champions Uganda, Tanzania, Djibouti, Sudan, and Burundi. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The champions, along with the first and second runners-up, will represent the CECAFA Zone at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Tennis: National Ranking championship. After tennis fans enjoyed the Rwanda Open in October, Rwandan players are now competing in the November edition of the National Ranking Championship. The tournament has moved to Cercle Sportif de Kigali from November 18 and will run until Saturday, November 22. The championship has reached its final four, with top seed Etienne Niyigena set to face Yannick Muvunyi (5), while No 2 seed Claude Ishimwe will play against King Onyx Umuhoza, who is seeded number 6.
