Cephas spoke during a cultural gathering in Jimeta, Adamawa State, on Saturday.
The event, named 'Civic reception: Unveiling of Margi national attire,' was hosted by the Margi tribe in the state to showcase their culture and introduce a traditional outfit for their community.
The event was joined by three governors from the People's Democratic Party along with other notable figures.
On Tuesday, Kefas declared the delay of his formal switch to the APC after the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
The PUNCHstated that the event was initially planned to take place on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
At the event, which was observed by our reporter on Channels Television, Kefas stated that the choice was made with the welfare of Taraba State's residents in mind.
He said, "This is an occasion where all Margi nations gather to examine their origins, their current situation, and their future direction."
This is not a political event. Governor (Ahmadu) Finitri is a genuine Margi individual. He serves as a unifying element, and I have appreciated our community and sibling relationship.
The sole reason for our differences is my choice to join the All Progressives Congress. However, I am confident that in the end, he will understand that my decision serves the best interests of my people. I wish you all the best.
In speech, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed criticism over the country's movement towards a single-party system.
He stated that such a political approach is not suitable within Nigeria's political system.
Makinde said, "For the Margi people, it seems simple to honor one of your own, but prophets are often not recognized in their own home. This is a special occasion today, and I would like to congratulate the entire Margi community."
According to the history being studied, Nigeria consists of various nations, and this is why it will not succeed in pushing us towards a single-party system.
I extend my congratulations to my brother, Governor Finitri. While going through his journey in the program booklet, I noticed that he was elected as Minority Leader in the House of Assembly.
Subsequently, he took on the role of Majority Leader. He then served as Deputy Speaker and eventually became Speaker. Currently, he holds the position of governor. Therefore, we understand his capabilities. If granted an opportunity, he will achieve great things.
Additionally, Bala Mohammed, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, praised the Margi people, conveying the greetings of other PDP governors.
He stated, "We are pleased to be with Governor Umaru Finitri and to be present here on behalf of all members of the PDP, particularly our governors who could not attend."
We wish to express that we align with the day, and we will ensure that we offer our support for the growth of culture and unity.
Regarding the matter of examining our history with clarity, we can understand our origins and our direction ahead. History is not solely about the past, but knowing the past helps us comprehend the present and overcome our challenges.
The leader promised N50m on behalf of the group to back cultural growth within the state.
