The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, along with Dr. Olajide Adediran (Jandor), a candidate for the 2027 APC governorship, have called on local chairmen, council members, and community residents to increase their efforts before the 2027 national elections, aiming to secure President Bola Tinubu's re-election and promote current economic initiatives.
The officials issued the directive on Wednesday while inaugurating projects led by the Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Kareem Abiodun, to commemorate his initial 100 days in power.
Among the projects launched were an ultra-modern two-storey legislative building called the Hon. Ojelabi Legislative House, patrol vehicles for security personnel, and N250,000 business grants for 100 recipients.
Jandor, who also handed over a N5 million check to the G12 Women group—provided by the council boss to support the Women Development Fund Cooperative—praised Abiodun's accomplishments in a brief time frame.
He credited the progress made by local councils to President Bola Tinubu's higher funding provided to local governments and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's approach of distributing complete LG funds.
He called on residents and party loyalists to stay dedicated to achieving success for the APC in 2027, highlighting Abiodun as one of the council chairmen who is "doing exceptionally well in the state."
In his comments, Ojelabi commended the solidarity among the Lagos APC members, saying: "We need to prepare ourselves for the 2027 general elections. It is a responsibility that needs to be fulfilled for our active President, Bola Tinubu. While others are in conflict, we are in celebration."
He praised the Oto-Awori community for backing the party and electing Abiodun to office, noting that the chairman had begun his role effectively. He further encouraged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and cast their votes to ensure continued progress past 2027.
Ojelabi contributed an extra N5 million to the women's cooperative group, doubling the council's previous assistance.
Council Chairman Reacts
Chairman Abiodun mentioned that he faced extensive infrastructure deterioration when he took up his position — ranging from primary schools to health centers, roads, drainage systems, and other public buildings. Even with restricted resources, he stated that the administration had achieved considerable advancements.
Having God on our side, we are shaping history," he stated. "Today, we unveil a new legislative building, equip security officers with patrol vehicles, assist 100 small businesses with N250,000 each, and boost the Women Development Initiative with N5 million.
Leaders Laud Council Boss
A former member of the Lagos Assembly representing Ojo Constituency 2, Hon. Olanrewaju Ogunyemi, praised Abiodun's work, highlighting that effective leadership involves both intent and execution.
The Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development Commissioner, Bolaji Kayode Robert, praised the chairman's accomplishments, encouraging citizens to back the administration, particularly in matters of cleanliness.
The legislator from Ojo Constituency 2, Suraju Tijani (Emir), also commended Abiodun's initiatives, stating belief that Oto-Awori LCDA would undergo significant change in the coming year.
The gathering attracted party officials, council employees, customary leaders, women's organizations, young people, and inhabitants of the LCDA.
