The governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has celebrated with the Emir of Ilorin and head of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, marking the 30th year since his ascension to the throne of Sheikh Alimi.
In a statement released by his senior media advisor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor highlighted that the Emir's 30-year rule has been marked by constructive and positive changes within the Ilorin Emirate, with the capital city developing into one of Nigeria's most tranquil and attractive communities.
AbdulRazaq praised the composure and insight of Sulu-Gambari in leading the Traditional Council, and recognized his backing for effective governance, infrastructure development in Ilorin, and the cultural evolution of the Emirate during his rule.
"His Royal Highness, a former senior judge, is known for his passion for law and order, highlighting his dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and progress," the governor stated.
He wished the Emir good health, an extended rule, Allah's ongoing guidance and safeguard while sitting on the throne of his ancestors, and a noble conclusion.
Additionally, the speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, praised Sulu-Gambari during the event.
In a statement released by his primary media spokesperson, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, the speaker referred to the Emir as the pioneer in fostering peace, unity, and comprehensive progress.
We, members of the State House of Assembly, are honored and pleased to be linked with the many achievements that the Ilorin Emirate and the whole of Kwara State have accomplished throughout the tranquil and influential rule of Your Royal Highness. We are also pleased to observe that the past 30 years of Your Royal Highness's leadership have brought significant infrastructure and human resource advancements throughout the state.
"It is worth noting that, under the leadership of our Maimartaba, Sarkin Ilory, as chairman, the Kwara State Traditional Council has been leading efforts in fostering peace, unity, and overall progress, not only within the Ilorin Emirate but also across Kwara and Nigeria. This will continue to serve as a lasting benchmark for future generations," the speaker stated.
The managing director of Kam Holding Ltd, Dr Kamoru Yusuf, celebrated with Sulu-Gambari on the special occasion.
Yusuf mentioned that the city of Ilorin, recognized as a place of moderate peace and academic pursuit, has become cosmopolitan during the rule of the most prominent ruler in the past three decades.
He showed happiness that Emir represents patriotism through his calm nature, noting that the traditional leader has promoted peaceful living among Ilorin's residents, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds or religious beliefs.
"The most suitable moment is this fortunate event to consider how Ilorin, with its limited peace and academic pursuits, has progressed and become a global city during Your Royal Highness's reign," said the well-known industrialist.
The vice chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Prof Shaykh - Lukman Jimoh, referred to Sulu- Gambari as a model traditional leader.
We have observed three decades of peaceful rule that has promoted unity and progress, enhancing the social and ethical foundation of the Ilorin Emirate and surrounding areas. We extend our congratulations to His Excellency, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON; the Ilorin Emirate; and all the honorable citizens of Kwara State for witnessing this significant moment in the history of the Ilorin Emirate.
"As we honor His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Maimartaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, we ask Almighty Allah to bestow upon him lasting good health, insight, and a prolonged, tranquil rule," Jimoh stated.
The head of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, extended his congratulations to Sulu Gambari on this occasion.

In his capacity, the founder of Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin, Alh Abdur-Raheem Oladimeji, extended his congratulations to the Emir on the 30th anniversary of his coronation, calling his rule exceptional.
Oladimeji, the Jagunmolu and Asiwaju of Igbomina, characterized Sulu-Gambari as a symbol of humility, peace, and calmness, highlighting that his efforts in fostering unity have reshaped the city.
I seize this opportunity to extend my congratulations to our royal father, Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the celebration of his 30th coronation anniversary. This is not merely a commemoration of three decades on the throne of Sheikh Alimi, but a time to reflect on what Ilorin represents and its accomplishments relative to other similar regions since our royal father's reign began.

The Mutawalli of Ilorin, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq stated that history will be favorable towards Sulu-Gambari, acknowledging his impactful leadership and significant efforts in advancing the Ilorin Emirate during the last three decades.
AbdulRazaq commended the ruler for promoting peace, togetherness, and development within the Ilorin area, highlighting that his leadership has led to substantial improvements in infrastructure, education, and cultural renewal.
He mentioned that the Emir's guidance and management skills have transformed Ilorin into a tranquil and favorable setting for growth and progress.
The director general of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja, Prof Abubakar Sulaiman, stated that the three decades of Sulu-Gambari's tenure on the prestigious position were characterized by peace, prosperity, and advancement.
In a statement released by his media advisor Mohammad Abdulkadri, Sulaiman referred to the Emir's 30-year rule as a turning point in the history of the old city.
He mentioned that since His Royal Highness became the 11th emir on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1995, he has achieved remarkable and unprecedented milestones.
The Kwara State branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also extended its congratulations to Sulu-Gambari on marking the 30th anniversary of his ancestors' reign.
In a joint statement authored by the Council's chairman, Abdullateef Ahmed, and secretary, Olayinka Alaya, the union characterized the Emir's three-decade rule as one defined by peace, harmony, and forward-thinking governance, both within the Ilorin Emirate and throughout Kwara State.
The statement highlighted that since coming to power in 1995, Emir Sulu-Gambari has served as a source of stability, acting as a mediator between different groups, with his outspoken backing of education, media, and effective leadership.
The NUJ commended his royal wisdom and paternal nature, which have greatly aided the state's peaceful coexistence and societal progress.
The Kwara State Gamji Members Association (GAMA) also celebrated Sulu-Gambari's 30th anniversary of ascension.
In a statement signed by its president general, Alh Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, and the director of publicity, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, GAMA expressed satisfaction that the rule of the 11th Emir of Ilorin has been tranquil, similar to the distinguished reign of his father, the ninth Emir, Alhaji Sulukarnaini Gambari.
The group showed happiness that Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State have experienced increased progress over the past 30 years under Sulu-Gambari's leadership, particularly in the last six years during the tenure of the Sardauna of Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
